Meet the Tzedek Team

Much of Tzedek is run by volunteers. Volunteers put in a huge amount of their own time to push forward Tzedek's social action agenda.

The members of the Tzedek staff team are:

Dan Berelowitz, Executive Director

Studied Management at Nottingham University and then worked for a number of NGOs including the One to One Children's Fund, the New Israel Fund and the Ramblers Association. Dan started as Tzedek's first Director in 2007.
 

Libby Burkeman, Director of Education

After studying Archaeology & Geography, Libby has had various roles at JCC London, West London Synagogue and, most recently as Learning Resources Coordinator at The Science Museum. Libby is also a member of the Limmud Executive Team.
 

Leah Gaffney, Volunteer Coordinator

Studied Violence, Conflict and Development at the School of Oriental and African Studies. She has previously worked as a Project Coordinator for Tenteleni, and Project Development Coordinator on the Tenteleni Committee.
 

Deborah Samuel, Fundraiser

Originally studied Textile Management, but found her way into Fundraising through World Jewish Relief and consultancy work with British Friends of The Hebrew University and Pilotlight.
 

Louise Hillman, Bookkeeper

After studying Economics at Bristol University and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Louise worked at Credit Suisse for several years. Following a short break to raise her young family, she worked as a bookkeeper for a bio-diesel manufacturer before joining Tzedek.
 

Ruth Newman, Education Officer

After studying Hebrew and Jewish Studies at the University of Manchester, Ruth was the Director of Education for BBYO. This was followed by an internship in the Jewish Museum's education department before joining the tzedek team.
 

Zippi Gershon, Intern

Studied Criminology and Social policy at Lougborough University. Previously heavily involved in fundraising and volunteered in Tanzania. Working in the Tzedek office on various projects for six months, followed by six months with partner projects in Ghana.
 

Hannah Gaventa, Intern

Studied Biomedical Sciences at King’s College London and interned at Three Faiths Forum after graduating. Currently working for six months on fundraising and community outreach projects in the UK, followed by six months with Tzedek partner projects in Ghana.
 

Charlotte Flowers, Tony Blair Faith Foundation - Faiths Act Fellow

Recently graduated from the University of Oxford where she studied Theology. Whilst at University, Charlotte was Vice President of Oxford RAG (Raise and Give) and volunteered on various social action programmes. She also travelled to Rwanda to work with Aegis Trust and visited Zimbabwe for a local church initiative. She is currently a Tony Blair Faith Foundation - Faiths Act Fellow and will be at Tzedek until June 2012.
 

Maryam Duale, Tony Blair Faith Foundation - Faiths Act Fellow

Maryam studied Design and Art Direction at university and worked as a web designer before realising her passion lay in her community work. From 2002 till 2008 she was a member of the Young Muslims UK before becoming president in 2010. She is currently a Tony Blair Faiths Act Fellow and will be at Tzedek till June 2012.
 

Adam Berkley, Fundraising and Communications Manager

After studying in Bristol and at the Conservative Yashivah in Jerusalem Adam worked for Noam where he was National Director. Adam continued his studies in MAthematics and Statistics at Birkbeck, University of London before joining Tzedek.
 

Leila Wilmers, Trusts Relationship Manager

Studied Russian and Spanish at Cambridge University before working for children's charity Miramed in Moscow for two years as an intern and Programme/Fundraising Assistant. After returning to study International Development at Manchester University, Leila worked as a freelance trust fundraiser for international charities.

Ana Maria Rubiano Prieto, OPT Administrator

Studied economics in Colombia and then worked in research and social development projects before coming to Europe. In France she completed two Masters Degrees, in Decentralization and Territorial Development and in Latin American Studies, at La Sorbonne University in Paris. Before working with Tzedek she worked with Coin Street Community Builders and with the Fairtrade Foundation in the UK.
