Kojo spent much of his childhood in the dark mines of northern Ghana without daring to dream of playing in the sun. His mother did dangerous, exhausting work in a stone quarry, and couldn’t put food on the table without Kojo's wages. This was until Tzedek funded her training to make shea butter. Now she has her own business - and all Kojo knows of dares is in games at school.
