Get on your bike this summer!
Join Tzedek, the JCC, UJS and RSY Netzer cycle from London to Cambridge on June the 26th 2011, raising funds for environmental projects overseas and green projects in the UK.
Get on your bike, do something good for yourself, for your community and for charity, by raising money for the Jewish Community Centre for London and Tzedek; two organisations at the heart of Jewish Social Action in London. It’ll be a joyous ride, giving you the perfect opportunity to breathe the fresh air of the beautiful English country side, and arrive in the delightful city of Cambridge. It’s a great way to spend a day!
We’re building on the success of past Tzedek and JCC bike rides by working alongside UJS and RSY, to make this a charity bike ride for everyone.
Support:
· The route is 50 (or so) miles long and you’ll cycle through beautiful countryside and be supported by a team of professionals and volunteers along the way.
· You don’t need to be a cycling professional to take part but you do need to be a competent rider on roads, over 16 and up for the challenge of a day’s cycling (whilst wearing a cycle helmet)
· You’ll raise money for Tzedek and the JCC Social Action programme.
· We will be holding a pre-bike ride Q and A and safety briefing. The details of these will be provided soon.

Money raised for Tzedek will go towards the Pinyin Sustainable Farming System (PISUFAS) Currently, because of the difficulties in obtaining improved seeds, the people use seeds which produce inadequate yields. There is however, a high demand for potatoes in Cameroon and neighbouring countries. The programme involves multiplication of improved certified seed potatoes from research institutes, the distribution of improved seed potatoes to farming groups on a credit basis or at affordable prices, training on organic fertilisers and pest control, and training on how to grow improved potatoes. Potatoes are the primary crop in the area and are usually grown and harvested once a year. With the new seeds, three or sometimes four cropping cycles a year is possible.
The JCC’ projects are:
a. Jewish Bee Project, working to address the growing problems of declining bee populations. The project aims for the London Jewish Community to become self-sufficient in the production of Rosh Hashanah honey within five years.
b. Support services and Befriending Project run with the Darfuri Refugee Community in London.
