Education & Campaigning Team
Tzedek is currently involved in the Jewish community-wide Fairtrade campaign. This campaign is launched in conjunction with other members of the Jewish Social Action Forum: Board of Deputies, the JCC and the Pears Foundation.
The campaign aims to increase the numbers of people buying Fairtrade, as well as targeting the number of Kosher products that are also Fairtrade.
There are opportunities for volunteers to learn about Fairtrade, and in turn teach others through educational sessions in synagogues, community centres, youth movements and J-Socs.
Tzedek is in the process of forming a Speakers Network of volunteers to raise awareness about global issues to a wide range of the Jewish Community. Members of the Speakers Network can be based anywhere around the world and training resources will be made available online and in packs.
The Jewish Global Citizenship Project, led by the Education Projects Director focuses on educating young people about global social justice. Currently, there are volunteers supporting Tzedek’s staff members by contributing case studies, knowledge of development issues, and knowledge of the education system.
Tzedek is also involved in facilitating educational sessions with adults and students. We have had collaborations with UJS to work with J-Socs around the country. We have also run a number of sessions in partnership with the JCC, surrounding issues such as the Global Food Crisis and Ethical Consumerism.
