Adult Education at Tzedek
Education is at the heart of Tzedek's work. We aim to engage all sectors of the Jewish community on issues of global poverty, its' effects, and the Jewish obligation to respond.
New Resource
We were slaves then, who are the slaves now? Tzedek, JCORE and René Cassin have launched a new Haggadah Companion to explore these issues at your seder.
Download the Haggadah Companion to use at your seder table (this may take a couple of minutes to download).
Resources
- The very simple guide to trade, aid and debt
- Download Tzedek's Pesach resource entitled "Resources and Reflections for your Seder" which is full of ideas for how you can bring modern day issues to your seder. This years pack explores Modern Day Slavery and Children's Rights
Currently, Tzedek is looking for volunteers to expand our adult education resources, through events and producing materials. If you're interested in getting involved, please email Katie.
Tzedek facilitate a whole host of educational events. Recent events have included:
The Global Food Crisis
To mark World Food Day, Jay Rayner, restaurant critic for The Observer and presenter of Channel 4 Dispatches ‘The Truth About Food Prices’ in conversation with David Hallam from the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation discussed how the situation of food shortages and rising prices which are plunging millions more people into severe malnutrition has arisen, and whether anything can be done to prevent famine spreading. Sheila Dillon, presenter of Radio 4’s Food Programme, chaired the panel.
The Age of Stupid with Ed Miliband
This sell-out event saw Ed Miliband in conversation with Jonathan Freedland to mark the launch of the Jewish Climate campaign and the Big Green Jewish website. The conversation was followed by a screening of The Age of Stupid, which stars Pete Postlethwaite as a man living in 2055, watching archive footage from 2008, and asking 'why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance?'.
