Human Rights & The Ten Commandments

Free Shavuot Activities - The Ten Commandments and Human Rights

The festival of Shavuot provides an excellent time to explore Human Rights. At Shavuot we celebrate the receiving of the Ten Commandments which set out the principles of a just Jewish society. They contain two types of commandments – those that regulate our relations with G-d and those that regulate our relations with other people. Furthermore, the 10 Commandments have been universally recognised as the foundation of a just society and have greatly influenced the development of ‘human rights’.

Our Human Rights and the Ten Commandments resource aims to provide young people & young adults with an opportunity to explore the importance of modern human rights through a comparison with The Ten Commandments.
