One of our previous overseas summer volunteers, Eleanor Segal has been busy blogging about her expereince on CartoonKippah.com
Last summer, Tzedek – a UK based charity empowering Jewish community leaders to promote the fight against extreme poverty - sent eight Jewish volunteers to work in Tamale, Northern Ghana. I was fortunate enough to be one of those volunteers and whilst in Africa, through the various NGOs, schools and hospitals in which we all got to work, we were able to to learn about the Ghanaian way of life. As the eight of us assisted local organisations in tackling forms of extreme poverty and development I couldn’t help but wonder just how different our lives as British Jews had been compared to those growing up in this rural African village.
