Ottolenghi cooks for Tzedek
Tzedek, together with The Nicholas Roth Memorial Trust, raised £11,500 at an evening of culinary delights by Ottolenghi in January 2010. The event, hosted by Sasha Maisel, was held at the fabulous Totteridge home of Barry and Sherril Maisel.
Around 220 guests braved snow and ice to sample such delights as burnt aubergine salad with pomegranate molasses, Swiss chard cakes and caramelized fennel with goat’s cheese.
Yotam Ottolenghi grew up in Jerusalem before arriving in London in the mid 1990s to study at The Cordon Bleu and working part-time at a Michelin starred restaurant. In 2002, he established his first food shop, before establishing three others in the London area. Following the success of “The Ottolenghi Cookbook”, his new vegetarian cookery book “Plenty” will be published in May 2010.
The funds raised from this event will go towards one of Tzedek's partner projects in India.
